ST. GEORGE NEXTGEN RUNWAY
This year, as part of a showcase to promote ‘new’ Australian talent to both a local and global audience. Isabelle Quinn, Meredith Bullen, Stanzee, Sarah Hope Schofield, Stephanie Henly and Victoria Bliss presented their collections. These emerging designers were selected by a panel of nine fashion industry representatives, which included the Australian Laureate recipient Nancy Pilcher, Melissa Grace (ex Woolmark), Anna McLeod (Director, Marketing & Industry Relations, IMG), and Daniel Bracken (Chief Merchandise & Customer Officer, Deputy CEO, Myer).

The coverage for this event is amazing.

“Pageant’s collection was inspired by the utilitarian and DIY spirit of Melbourne’s infamous Cave Clan, a collective who’ve explored and partied in the city’s network of underground drains since the 80s. Collaborating with a selection of Melbourne artists and musicians, including sculpture artist Caleb Shea, accessories designer Adam Wood, collage artist Lydia Wegner, sunglasses label POMS and musical duo HTRK, the runway became a stage for their slow moving subterranean, post-rave girl gang.”

The School of Fashion and Textiles was a proud sponsor of the Pageant parade, assisting with some finance, student interns, mentorship and lots of enthusiastic support.

“Kate and I want to express a HUGE THANK YOU to you and the RMIT team for all of your help and support over the past months!

We couldn’t have done the show without you and are overwhelmed by the response we’ve had so far! I hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did!!

The students who helped out were a really great support to us and we’ve been in contact to say our thanks.

Thanks again,

Amanda & Kate xxx”
