“In order for fashion to progress we have to always be willing to invest in someone or something new, and embrace risks regardless of the economy.” Renzo Rosso
This is a quote, which inspires us all. The risk that needs to happen, mistakes, the ambition and adventures that move fashion forward.
On Friday 11 March, supported by the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, the School of Fashion and Textiles community experienced the whirlwind intensity of Renzo Rosso, founder of DIESEL and president of OTB Group, and Nicola Formichetti, Artistic Director of DIESEL.
Jessica Bugg, Deputy Head of Research, led the group around Campus.
“Last week RMIT Fashion and Textiles students and staff had the great privilege of welcoming Nicola Formichetti Artistic director, Diesel (ITA) and Renzo Rosso, President OTB Group (ITA) to the Brunswick campus. We spent an action packed morning with our visitors that included a tour of our research facilities, labs and fashion and textile design studios enabling our guests to engage directly with our teaching and research community. The visit culminated with a lively in conversation event with Nicola and Renzo hosted by senior staff and researchers, this was a fantastic opportunity to develop an international conversation about fashion and textiles and for our staff and students to learn from such distinguished practitioners and leaders in our field.”
Kiri Delly, Deputy Head of Industry Engagement:
“The chance for Renzo and Nicola to connect directly with the students taking part in the Denim Re-Fuel’d Project was very special and intimate: talking fabrics, finishes and design concepts, it was fantastic to see how much both sides enjoyed the interaction.”
